Use Photo Transfer from a web browser

If you don't want to install the desktop app on your computer, you can use any web browser instead. Photo Transfer running on your phone hosts its own local web page — open the address it shows in your browser, and you've got a full transfer interface with no app install required.

When to use this

  • You're on someone else's computer where you can't install software.
  • You're on a Linux or ChromeOS machine where there's no native desktop app.
  • You just want to transfer one or two photos and don't want a full install.

Step-by-step

  1. Open Photo Transfer App on your phone.
  2. On the home screen, look for the local IP address shown under your device name — something like 192.168.1.42:8080  .
  3. On your computer (same WiFi as the phone), open any browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox.
  4. Type that address into the browser's URL bar exactly as shown.
  5. Your browser loads the Photo Transfer web interface. From here you can browse your phone's photo library and download anything you want straight to the computer.

What you can do in the browser

  • Browse the phone's photo library by album or date.
  • Download individual photos, multiple selections, or whole albums as a ZIP.
  • Upload files from the computer to the phone.
