Local Network permission (iOS)

iOS requires apps to ask permission before they can find other devices on your local WiFi. If you previously declined Photo Transfer App's prompt, the app can't discover your Mac, PC, or other phone — you'll see an empty device list when you tap Send.

Re-enable Local Network access

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap Photo Transfer App.
  3. Toggle Local Network on.

Alternative path: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Photo Transfer App → toggle on.

Then quit and reopen the app

iOS sometimes caches the previous permission state. After enabling Local Network access:

  1. Force-close Photo Transfer App (swipe up from the bottom and flick the app away).
  2. Reopen the app.
  3. Tap Send. Devices should now appear in the list within a few seconds.

Why iOS asks this

Local Network permission was added by Apple in iOS 14 as a privacy measure. Before, any app could scan your local network for connected devices — printers, smart-home gadgets, other phones — without telling you. Apple now requires explicit permission. Photo Transfer App needs it because finding the device you're sending to is scanning the local network.
