Back up photos to OneDrive
Photo Transfer App PRO can upload photos and videos directly from your phone to your OneDrive account. Transfers go straight to OneDrive over the internet — no Photo Transfer server in between, no copy of your files on our end.
Before you begin
- A Microsoft account with OneDrive.
- Photo Transfer App PRO on your phone (see What's included in PRO).
- Your phone connected to the internet.
Step-by-step
- Open Photo Transfer App on your phone.
- Tap Send -> Cloud.
- From the destination chooser, pick OneDrive.
- Select the photos and videos you want to back up.
- Tap Send now.
- If this is your first time, you'll be sent to Microsoft's sign-in page in your phone's browser to authorize Photo Transfer App. Sign in and tap Accept. You're then returned to the app.
- Select the destination folder in your OneDrive account.
- Tap Upload now. Files upload directly to your OneDrive account.
- The same file is already there. If the folder has a file with the same name, or a numbered copy of it such as
IMG_1234 1.jpgorIMG_1234 (1).jpg, with exactly the same size, Photo Transfer skips it (version 10.6 or later on iPhone and iPad, 10.5 or later on Android). Nothing is uploaded again, and the transfer screen shows Skipped (n). - A different file has the same name. If the size is different, the new copy is saved next to it with a number, such as
IMG_1234 1.jpg. - Everything was already there. The transfer screen says "No new files uploaded" and "All selected items already exist in the destination folder."
- The same file is already there. If the folder has a file with the same name, or a numbered copy of it such as
Photo Transfer checks only the name and size to decide that a file is already there. Two different files with the same name and exactly the same size count as the same file, so the second one is skipped. To upload both, rename one of them.
Uploads and downloads keep going if you leave the app, with Photo Transfer 10.6 or later on iPhone and iPad (on iOS or iPadOS 26 or later) and 10.5 or later on Android. See Leave the app during a transfer.
What's preserved
- Full original resolution.
- EXIF metadata, GPS, capture date.
- HEIC stays as HEIC; ProRAW / DNG stay as RAW.
