Send photos from the Android share menu

On Android, you can send photos through Photo Transfer App without opening the app first. Use the system Share menu from inside Google Photos, Samsung Gallery, Files, or any other app that lets you share images.

How it looks in the Share menu

In the Android Share sheet, Photo Transfer App appears as a destination. Tap it the same way you'd tap any other share target.

Step-by-step

  1. Open your gallery app — Google Photos, Samsung Gallery, or any app that lets you share images.
  2. Pick the photos and videos you want to send.
  3. Tap the Share icon.
  4. Find and tap Photo Transfer in the list of share targets.
  5. The same Send dialog appears as if you had tapped Send from inside Photo Transfer App — pick your destination (another device, a computer, or a cloud service) and continue from there.

Why this is useful

  • Faster path when you're already browsing photos in your gallery — no need to switch apps.
  • Works from anywhere — any Android app that supports sharing can hand photos to Photo Transfer App.
  • Same destinations — every transfer mode (phone-to-computer with the two pick paths, phone-to-phone, cloud backup, browser) is available.

If you don't see "Photo Transfer" in the Share sheet

  • The Share sheet may show only your most-used share targets at first. Scroll or tap More / a "see all" option to reveal the full list.
  • Make sure Photo Transfer App is installed and has been opened at least once — Android registers share targets after the first launch.
  • On some manufacturers (Samsung, Xiaomi), the Share sheet has its own customization. Check your phone's Share menu settings if Transfer is missing entirely.
